Health and Safety Policy

1. Introduction 

Digital Parenting CIC, socially known as Digital Parenta, is committed to providing a safe and  healthy environment for all staff, volunteers, visitors, and service users. This policy outlines our  approach to managing health and safety in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc.  Act 1974 and associated regulations. 

2. Scope 

This policy applies to: 

  • All staff, volunteers, and contractors 
  • All premises and environments where Digital Parenta activities take place • All service users and visitors who interact with our programmes 

3. Our Commitment 

  • We will: 
  • Provide and maintain safe premises, equipment, and systems of work • Assess risks and implement appropriate preventive measures 
  • Ensure safe handling and use of substances 
  • Provide information, instruction, training, and supervision 
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture 
  • Consult with staff and volunteers on health and safety matters 

4. Responsibilities 

Overall responsibility for health and safety rests with the Board of Directors. Day-to-day management is delegated to the Health and Safety Lead- Atinuke Dele-Ogundijo All staff and volunteers are responsible for: 

  • Cooperating with safety procedures 
  • Taking care of their own health and safety 
  • Reporting hazards, incidents, or unsafe practices

5. Risk Assessments 

  • We conduct regular risk assessments for: 
  • Activities and events 
  • Use of equipment or materials 
  • Working with children and vulnerable groups 
  • Lone working and home visits 

Risk assessments are reviewed at least annually or when significant changes occur. 

6. Training 

  • All staff and volunteers receive appropriate health and safety training during induction and as  required for their roles. Topics may include: 
  • Fire safety and evacuation 
  • Manual handling 
  • Safeguarding and first aid 

7. Accidents and First Aid 

We maintain up-to-date first aid kits in all working environments. 

All accidents and incidents must be: 

  • Reported to the designated First Aider or Health and Safety Lead 
  • Recorded in the accident log book 
  • Investigated to prevent recurrence 

8. Fire Safety 

We ensure fire safety by: 

  • Keeping fire exits clear 
  • Conducting regular fire drills 
  • Providing fire extinguishers and alarms 
  • Ensuring staff and volunteers are aware of evacuation procedures 

9. Mental Health and Wellbeing 

Digital Parenta recognises the importance of mental health and wellbeing. We: 

  • Promote a supportive environment 
  • Encourage open communication
  • Provide signposting to appropriate services 
  • Support flexible working where possible 

10. Policy Review 

This policy is reviewed annually or when significant changes to operations or legislation occur.
