Safeguarding Policy

1. Introduction 

Digital Parenting CIC, socially known as Digital Parenta, is committed to safeguarding and  promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We believe that all  individuals, regardless of age, ability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation,  or identity, have the right to protection from harm. 

2. Purpose of this Policy 

The purpose of this policy is to: 

  • Protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults who engage with Digital Parenta’s  services 
  • Provide staff, volunteers, and partners with guidance on safeguarding responsibilities – Ensure compliance with the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard  Children 2018, and related legislation 

3. Scope 

This policy applies to: 

  • All staff, volunteers, trustees, contractors, and anyone working on behalf of Digital  Parenta 
  • All activities and services delivered in person or online 

4. Our Commitment 

We will: 

  • Prioritise the welfare and rights of children and vulnerable individuals – Listen to concerns and take them seriously 
  • Ensure all staff and volunteers are trained and understand safeguarding procedures – Follow safer recruitment practices 
  • Maintain clear procedures for reporting and managing concerns

5. Recognising and Responding to Abuse 

Abuse may include physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, or exploitation. Indicators of abuse  include: 

  • Unexplained injuries 
  • Withdrawal or fearfulness 
  • Inappropriate sexual behaviour 

All concerns, disclosures, or suspicions must be reported immediately to the Designated  Safeguarding Lead (DSL). 

6. Reporting Concerns 

Any safeguarding concern must be reported to the DSL or Deputy DSL as soon as possible. If  there is an immediate risk, emergency services should be contacted via 999. 

Concerns will be recorded securely, and referrals made to the local authority if necessary. 

7. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

A Deputy DSL will also be appointed to act in the DSL’s absence. 

8. Safer Recruitment 

Digital Parenta ensures that all staff and volunteers: 

  • Complete a DBS check where required 
  • Provide references and a full employment history 
  • Attend safeguarding induction and ongoing training

9. Online Safety 

We recognise the risks associated with digital platforms and will: 

  • Ensure all online sessions are moderated and follow safeguarding guidelines – Gain consent for recording or sharing images/content 
  • Provide guidance on safe internet use for families and children 

10. Confidentiality and Data Protection 

Safeguarding concerns will be shared only with relevant personnel and authorities. All records  are stored securely in line with our Data Protection Policy and UK GDPR. 

11. Review and Updates 

This policy is reviewed annually or in response to legal or organisational changes.
